REGION I INTERMEDIATE CHOIR INFORMATION

The North Jersey Region I Intermediate Choir (formerly known as the North Jersey Region I Junior High School Choir) auditions are fast approaching! Sponsored by the New Jersey School Music Association (NJSMA), this audition only group is a wonderful opportunity for strong 6th through 9th grade singers who are interested in a more rigorous and challenging choir experience, while performing with other talented students from sponsoring schools in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren counties. The inexperienced or struggling singer may find this choir audition difficult to master.

Please be sure to take into consideration the time commitment when deciding whether or not a student should audition - four evening rehearsals from 4:00pm-8:00pm, one Saturday rehearsal from 10:00am-3:00pm, and a Sunday performance beginning at 3:00pm (as listed on the student information form - on the day of performance, students may be required to arrive 60-90 minutes early). Due to the limited, rigorous rehearsal schedule, one absence from the evening rehearsals is allowed-no excuse note is necessary. However, no absences during the Friday or the Saturday rehearsals are allowed.

Students must apply online and submit their online application by no later than 11:59pm  on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. While applying students must print out a signature page. Students must hand in completed signature forms and $25.00 application fees (check made payable to Cresskill Board of Education) to Mr. Von Glahn no later than 2:45pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 . No late applications will be accepted. Auditions will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 (with a snow date of Sunday, February 11, 2024) at Wayne Hills High School. With sometimes up to 500 students auditioning, students could be involved in the audition process (warmups, waiting in line, and auditioning) anywhere between 15 minutes to 3 hours.
